Kids Path®
KIDS PATH PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH CARE AND GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICES FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS. SEE BELOW FOR A DETAILED LISTING OF SERVICES.
Health Care Services
Services are provided by a registered nurse, as ordered by a physician, for children with serious or chronic illnesses who require home care monitoring and have a need for health promotion, medication compliance and caregiver/patient education.
Home Health Care
Skilled nursing and rehabilitative care is provided for children with a potentially life-threatening or chronic illness. The child is usually confined to his/her home.
Hospice Care
This service offers an interdisciplinary team approach to caring for children with life-threatening illnesses, who usually have a life-expectancy of months rather than years. A physician’s order is required and may include a variety of services, such as nursing care, counseling and volunteer services for all family members.
Grief Support Services
Individual or Group Support
Individual counseling is available for children who may have experienced a loss or who anticipate an upcoming loss. Various therapies are used to help children explore thoughts and feelings. Support groups are available for children and adults. Kids Path® also offers an annual grief day-camp for children and teenagers entitled “Caterpillars Quest”.
Puppet Shows
Various puppet shows illustrate the different emotions that are associated with loss and demonstrate the proper avenues for expressing those feelings. Puppet shows vary according to the age of the children. Trained facilitators provide a time of sharing and education after each show.
In-School Support
Kids Path® offers support designed to meet the needs of schools with students who have experienced grief and need coping skills to help them process their loss in a healthy way. Along with school counselors, we work together with parents/guardians to provide a safe environment for the expression of feelings and help students learn to move forward despite their loss.
